Choice and Decision-Making

For Christians, decision-making should be synonymous with finding the will of God.

Psalm 25:4–5,9: Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. 9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.

Psalm 143:10: Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Why Jesus Came

To show us what God is like:

2 Corinthians 4:4: Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Colossians 1:13b,15: And conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Positive Thinking

Ask God to wash your heart and renew your mind so that you will think only His positive, good thoughts.

Psalm 51:10: Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Romans 12:2: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Power from God

God is infinitely more powerful than we are.

Psalm 8:3–4: When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

Isaiah 40:15,17,22: Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, And are counted as the small dust on the scales; Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing. 17 All nations before Him are as nothing, And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless. 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

The Spirit World

The spiritual realm is an unseen dimension that exists concurrently with the physical world.

2 Corinthians 4:18: While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Colossians 1:16: For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Love One Another

God loves us, so we should love one another.

John 13:34: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Ephesians 5:2a: And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us.

1 John 4:7a: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God;

1 John 4:11: Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Meditative Prayer

Meditative prayer brings us into God’s presence.

Psalm 4:4: Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.

Psalm 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Psalm 63:5–6: My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. 6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.

James 4:8: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Children are a blessing from God.

Genesis 49:25: By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

Psalm 113:9: He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!

Psalm 127:3–5: Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
