These words from Jesus were received by men and women just like you who asked Jesus to speak to them. They claimed the biblical promise “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known” (Jeremiah 33:3), and they received advice, direction, and encouragement.
The messages of guidance and comfort received during personal prayer express Jesus’ great love and personal concern. Jesus will speak to anyone who believes in Him, asks Him to speak, and accepts that the “still, small voice” (1 Kings 19:11–13) they hear in their hearts is Him speaking. You too can hear directly from Jesus. To find out more, check out this book.
When you hit bottom, when dreams give way to disappointment, when all you’ve worked so hard for goes to pieces, you are tempted to despair. In extreme situations you may be tempted to just give up and stop trying.
That’s when you must remember that you were created for a purpose, and that purpose isn’t a single, one-time thing; it’s multifaceted and complex. As long as you live, there will be something more you can accomplish, something more you are meant to accomplish, and there is always more to learn in life.
The victories, battles, triumphs, tests, problems, and obstacles you face are all part of life. Everyone faces problems, but I am the answer man, and for each problem, there is always a solution, or many solutions. For each struggle, there is always a lesson and a victory. For each test, there is always a testimony. As My followers turn to Me and lean on Me and call on Me, I will never fail to answer and provide.
Embrace new opportunities to give. Try to find something to give every day—whether a smile, a compliment, your time, a listening ear, a good meal, an item you don’t need, or a kind word. There is always something you can share or give to others.
Never be content with what you gave from your heart yesterday. Imagine each day as a fresh new opportunity to give as much as you can.
When you accept Me into your life and come to know Me, you come to experience profound and intense happiness. The apostle Peter described this as “joy unspeakable and full of glory.”1
When I died on the cross, I paid the price for the sins of the world—including every wrongful deed you have ever committed. And because I did that, whoever believes in and receives Me will live forever—and that includes you too.
My love will never leave you; you will never lose it, and it will never diminish. Rest in My love, for in My arms you will find comfort and peace for your spirit. My love will uphold you; as you abide in it, it will sustain you. There is tremendous power in My love. It covers a multitude of sins, changes hearts, renews spirits, casts out all fear, gives hope to those who despair, lifts those whose hands hang low, restores health, and brings light where once there was darkness.
You do well to take time with Me first thing in the morning, for without Me, you wouldn’t go far. I am wisdom, I am strength, and I am love.
As I told My disciples, you can find rest for your spirit and strength for the day in Me.1 It can be a temptation to carry on in your own energy rather than taking the time to pause and enter into the realm of My Spirit, but that’s not how you will be the most effective. I have promised to renew the strength of all those who wait on Me.
I see your struggles and hear your calls for help. When you feel all alone, I am with you. I feel your heartaches, and wait for you to draw near to Me in prayer. Come into My sanctuary, into that secret place that you and I can share. There you can find a reprieve from the worries, the cares, and the confusion. There I can restore your feeling of purpose and infuse you with strength to go on.
I want you to be filled with My joy, which will be your strength. I want you to rest in My love and be at peace.
Sometimes your expectations are unrealistic and cause you to overextend yourself, and then you end up feeling that you failed or didn’t make the grade. I want to wipe away all those negative feelings. I want to wipe away your fears and worries, and give you peace. All is well.
Picture a forest—lush, deep, inviting. You enter and look around, expecting that rush of wonder that you’ve experienced before in nature, but this time the birds are not singing, there is no breeze to rustle the leaves, and the stream is not flowing. Everything is still, frozen in time, lifeless. You are in the forest, but it might as well be a picture hanging on the wall.
Love—this is My special gift for you. Love that knows no boundaries. Love that does not judge you by the color of your skin, the way you look, or how you speak. Love that gives. Love that shares. Love that cares. Love that is vibrant, warm, and kind. Love that is unconditional and forever.
